KEONG EMAS is an Indonesian folktale originating from East Java, the island where my parents grew up and where my great-grandparents escaped as refugees from Fujian in the 1900s.

This print focuses on the aspect of this folktale related to food, and depicts all my favorite Indonesian dishes from my childhood (satay, kangkung belacan, empek-empek, pecel, rawon, ayam goreng, nasi tumpeng, and of course, krupuk).
